The Assignment: An Overview
Both your project sheets and a website will extend your “brand” beyond your portfolio and the interview. I would like you to design several project sheets to include with your resume mailings. I would also like you to experiment setting up a website.
Your website should:
- Include a contact form or your e-mail address (never include your home address on your website);
- Include sample images of your work;
- Include pdfs of some or all of your projects;
- Consider the following resources to build your websites: wordpress.com, blogger.com
Your project sheets should:
- Graphically match the ‘look and feel’ of your portfolio;
- Include your name and phone number;
- Optionally include your e-mail address and website address;
What’s Due?
Complete the following by the beginning of class Monday Nov 24.
Website
- Explore website options and setup 25% of your website.
- Submit your website url via e-mail by noon Monday.
Project Sheets
- Design & Print project sheets for two different projects..
LinkedIn
Firm Shortlist
- Identify 5 more firms (10 total) that you are interested in applying to now or in the future. Include the firm address, phone, web site, project specialty, and principle or contact.
- Search LinkedIn for NESAD alumni or other professional connections that have worked or are currently working at any of these firms.
- Submit typed list.
Cover Letter & Resume
- Revisions based on in class comments.

P3: The Interview
Understanding Goals:
I hope this course will help you develop an understanding of the processes and skills employed in creating a professional and cohesive design portfolio. More specifically, I hope this course is a chance for you to further investigate the following questions:
- How can a critical and objective self-evaluation of your design projects help catalog and identify the strengths that should be presented to a potential employer?
- How does a thoughtful portfolio design clearly communicate your body of work and design process to a potential employer?
- How does the craft, graphics and written content in your design portfolio you communicate professionalism to a potential employer?

InDesign CS3 files cannot be opened directly CS2.
To make your InDesign CS3 file compatible with CS2, you need to export your file:
- Open your file in InDesign CS3
- Under the file menu, select Export
- In the export window, select InDesign Interchange as the file type.
- Pick you save location and click export.
